PRISM aims to strengthen the performance of multinational paediatric research by providing infrastructure and expertise to investigator-initiated studies. The project brings together professional clinical research infrastructures and service-oriented organisations to give the paediatric clinical research community high-quality, leading-edge and coordinated TransNational Access (TNA) services for the design, planning and conduct of paediatric interventional and observational clinical studies. 
The project offers three complementary access routes: end-to-end support for the design, planning and execution of multinational paediatric studies conducted in 3 to 6 countries across Europe and Canada (TNA1); consulting services for the planning and design of paediatricstudies (TNA2); and virtual services (TNA3) providing access to leading-edge methodologies, new trial designs, including platform trials, trials within cohorts and decentralised trials, as well as AI and digital tools, following their final development and adaptation to paediatricneeds. 
Supported studies are selected based on scientific excellence and public health relevance by an independent expert panel, through a two-stage procedure that allows short-listed TNA1 projects to receive design and planning support between the two evaluation steps, optimisingthe final study protocol before execution. 
PRISM will also train infrastructure staff involved in developing and delivering the new services, as well as the infrastructure’s users, including paediatric research, investigation and rare disease networks, and private and public sponsor teams. 
Beyond the life of the project, PRISM aims to leave behind a coordinated, non-duplicative service offer for the paediatric research community, built on a joint access mechanism agreed with all relevant stakeholders, such as infrastructures, technology providers, sponsors, investigation networks and patients.
